Changing Coverage/Dependents During the Year
(Outside of Annual Enrollment)
You may change your coverage during the year (outside of the Annual Enrollment process) only when you experience a qualifying life event such as a marriage, divorce, birth, adoption, gain or loss of coverage through another plan, or status change to a benefits-eligible position (in accordance with Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code). All changes must be made within 31 days* of the qualifying life event and supporting documentation must be provided. (Employees may make changes to their EverTrue Retirement Plan elections at any time they wish.)
*The date of the event is considered day #1. Additionally, employees have up to 60 calendar days to make election changes if coverage under Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program, aka “CHIP” is terminated as a result of loss of eligibility or if they become eligible for a subsidy through their state premium assistance program.)
