“Insurance Alternative” Payment
Some EverTrue team members who are eligible for EverTrue medical insurance benefits don’t need these benefits because they are covered under a medical plan outside of EverTrue. The most common instance of this is when an EverTrue team member is covered under a spouse’s plan or maybe a parent’s plan. For these team members who opt out of carrying EverTrue’s medical benefits, EverTrue shares some of the savings with them with our “Insurance Alternative” payment (soon to be renamed “Medical Opt-Out Payment”).
Eligible team members who opt out of EverTrue medical coverage and provide a copy of something showing their other medical benefits coverage will receive an extra $43.33 per month (or $21.67 per pay period). To elect this perk, the team member must log into Workday and elect the Insurance Alternative benefit, while uploading proof of their medical coverage, such as a copy of their medical insurance card. Why do we require proof of the team member having other medical insurance in place? Because it’s important that we are all covered with insurance, and we don’t want anyone electing to go without medical insurance just to receive this extra payment. Due to legal restrictions, we are unable to provide this payment to those who are covered under a Medicare and/or Medicaid plan.
This option is available anytime during the year, with supporting documentation required annually. That means if you didn’t enroll in this program previously when you could have, you can do so right now. The payments will begin following your election and providing the supporting documentation.
Effective January 1, 2027, we are changing the name of this program from the “Insurance Alternative” to “Medical Opt-Out Payment”. The program will not have any changes besides the new name, which we believe is clearer in communicating what the program offers.
